Denmark has become a get-rich-easy target for professional bank robbers, with Sunday's heist of an asset transport and management company in the suburb of Brøndby yielding the thieves 60 million kroner.
In April, the nation's biggest robbery took place in suburbian Glostrup, where 62 million kroner was taken from Loomis, an armoured transport firm.
Police have been criticised over the past few days for knowing the Brøndby heist was in progress but not intervening for fear of a massive firearms exchange. The police also stated they could not keep up with the thieves during the subsequent car chase because their fastest vehicles were not available.
Inspector Bent Isager-Nielsen of District West Police said changes were on the way within the police system as a result of the two large coups.
'We have to look closely into whether the Danish police force is able to deal with professional robberies as extreme as this one,' said Isager-Nielsen.
Nielsen said local police units were already working with the National Police on the issue.
But although police admitted they were not prepared for the magnitude of Sunday's heist, National Police Commissioner Torsten Hesselbjerg told DR that it was imperative that financial institutions - especially asset transport and management companies - get better security and emergency systems in place.
