He may have caught some flack for wearing pink football boots, but Danish and Arsenal striker Nicklas Bendtner has now put the iconic footwear up for a charity auction.

The 21-year-old has decided to place the boots, in which he scored his Champions League goal against Dynamo Kiev, and his national team jersey that he wore during the recent World Cup decider against Portugal on auction site eBay.

All proceeds from the auction will go towards charity cycle team, Team Rynkeby, which in turn supports children's cancer charity, Børenecancerfonden.

Bendtner said that having previously visited child cancer patients in hospital, he had been ‘deeply touched’ by their plight and said the work of the children’s charity was admirable.
