Danish 7-Elevens are chain's top earner
The country's 7-Eleven convenience stores collectively own the chain’s biggest turnover and income figures
The proliferation of 7-Eleven shops in Denmark says something about how business is going here for the 24-hour American convenience store chain.
With an average profit margin of DKK 12.4 million (EUR 1.65 million), the 62 Danish 7-Eleven stores rank number one for the chain worldwide, according to the Reitan Group, which operates the stores in the Nordic region.
Of all the Denmark’s 7-Elevens, the City Hall Square store in Copenhagen is the king, taking in DKK 29 million last year. Other Copenhagen stores make up most of the top earners for the chain.
The stores’ owners have also benefited from the rapid growth and ever-increasing profits.
Five years ago, a 7-Eleven franchisee earned an average of about DKK 300,000 annually before taxes. As of 2006 that figure had reached nearly DKK 600,000 and the Reitan Group expects the annual salary to reach DKK 680,000 for store owners in 2007.
