At two o’clock this afternoon the Social Liberal’s leader Margrethe Vestager was back at the Finance Ministry in negotiations about reforms to the country’s early retirement programme.
Earlier in the day, the Danish People’s Party’s leader, Pia Kjærsgaard was there.
Conservative party leader and justice minister Lars Barfoed was optimistic that the Liberal-Conservative government was very close to reaching an agreement with the two parties about changes to early retirement as part of its 2020 economic reform package.
“I think that it has been a good negotiating session, even though it has been difficult and protracted,” Barfoed told public broadcaster DR.
“Now it is hopefully down to the last issues that must be thrashed out and then we can presumably reach a reasonable and broad agreement.”
