At a test centre operated by blade manufacturer LM Wind Power in mid-Jutland, the blades will be given a quality assessment check. The test will attempt to determine what the condition of the blades will be after 20 years of use.
The Antonov 225 that will land in Jutland is the only one of its kind and is large enough to dwarf a Boeing 747 passenger jet. It was introduced in 1988 and was originally constructed to transport parts for the Soviet Union’s space shuttle programme.
