The newest addition to the royal family, born at the start of May, was the first son of Prince Joachim and his second wife Marie.
As is tradition, the new baby’s name will not be revealed until the day of the christening, which is due to take place in the royal couple’s hometown church in Møgeltønder, southern Jutland, this Sunday.
But bookies are already taking bets on the name of the new prince, who in royal tradition will receive four names.
Albert is currently taking the lead at 4-1 thanks to its traditional royal and French connections. Princess Marie is French-born and Prince Joachim’s father is also French.
Other names like Waldemar, Victor, Julius and Bernard have slightly longer odds at 7-1. While at the other end of the scale is Marie at 50-1. Even though it is a girl’s name in Denmark, it can be used for men in France and is the middle name of the little prince’s grandfather.
