Police raided the homes of some 40 suspected child molesters and confiscated their computers in a nationwide action early Tuesday morning.
A 39-year-old man's boasts to an online community that he had sex with a 13-year-old led police to the suspects. Over the course of a year, police monitored the Helsingør man's e-mail and traced who downloaded sexually explicit pictures of him and the young girl.
Police were tight-lipped about the raid, but confirmed the case sprang out of an investigation in Helsingør,30km north of Copenhagen.
'I can only say that there is an investigation we have coordinated and raids have taken place in 15 different police regions including Tårnby, Viborg and Odense, said assistant police commissioner Morten Pedersen.
Pedersen said the confiscated computers will be investigated further to see whether the recipients had sent the pictures to others.
