Doc-producer fiddles with major film

One of Denmark's independent documentary production companies will take part in the largest film project in Scandinavia's history

Denmark will play a part in Scandinavia's largest film project- a film adaptation of Jan Guillous' popular trilogy set in the midst of the Crusades.

Based on the main character Arn, a Knight Templar, the screen adaptation is being produced for the big screen and also as a television series.

The Danish connection to the project, estimated to cost DKK 170 million, is Tju-Bang film, an independent production company that has focused mainly on documentary projects since it was started by four friends in 1997.

Guillous's trilogy consists of The Road to Jerusalem (Vejen til Jerusalem), Knight Templar (Tempelridderen), and Kingdom at the End of World ( Riget ved Verdens Ende). The first film adaptation, Arn, is expected to premier in Scandinavian countries in December 2007, while the last, still unnamed, will follow in autumn 2008.

The director of the film adaptations of the mystery trilogy of Sweden's second best-selling author will be announced this September, along with filming locations and lead actors.

Arn will be co-produced by the Swedish Film Industy and Tju-Bang Film in cooperation with Film I Väst, SVT,DR, Yle, TV2 Norway, and Telepol.
