The investigation comes after it was revealed last week that the Immigration Service had misinformed people about requirements for moving to Denmark with a spouse who is under the age of 24.
Hans Gammeltoft Hansen, the ombudsman, has previously criticised the Immigration Service for failing to inform potential immigrants and their families about rule changes.
'The ombudsman's job is to control whether public officials treat people according to the rules,' he said. 'As this case shows, the obligation to inform people as completely as possible is central, and has enormous relevance for people.'
