A Horsens-based company is moving its headquarters for the 8th time in 14 years, and not for the reason you might think.
In 2007, young entrepreneurs Sebastian Thiel Petersen and Mikkel Falkenberg Kjær Andersen, then fresh out of high school, started an online men’s accessories business called Trendhim. The first few years were a hustle, but now, in late 2021, the rapidly growing company is moving to a 4000 m2 warehouse in Northern Horsens and staffing up fast to fill all that extra office space.
It’s a busy time for Trendhim. Not only are they moving their whole warehouse and office, but ramping up the development of new products through their in-house product development team and increasing media production at their in-house studio. Wherever you look in the company, you’ll see fresh, enthusiastic faces because they hire talent as fast as they can get their hands on them.
Things have moved fast for the 5-time Børsen Gazelle-winning company.
2007 - Trendhim launches.
2009 - Mikkel and Sebastian move into an 83 m2 apartment and work on Trendhim full time.
2010 - They move into a villa in a residential area.
2011 - Trendhim moves into a 200 m2 commercial property. Their first real warehouse.
2014 - They hire their first employee, Martin, who almost immediately becomes a partner.
2015 - 6 employees, including the founders, and Trendhim move into a 1000 m2 warehouse.
2017 - 50 employees and 2000 products expand their presence to a 1600 m2 warehouse.
2019 - Trendhim moves to a 2500m2 warehouse at Egeskovvej 2A.
2021 - With over 100 employees and more than 6000 products, Trendhim moves into 4000 m2 at Egeskovvej 12.
When asked whether they’ve started feeling like professionals, the duo replied: “One of our core values is ‘Hakuna Matata’ (what a wonderful phrase). It’s something that everyone at Trendhim holds close to heart. We decided a long time ago that we never wanted to become ‘professional’ just for the sake of professionalism.”
There is a laid-back atmosphere among the predominantly young staff at the office, but they’re busy. Denmark is experiencing a labour shortage as the country hits record employment levels, but despite that, Trendhim remains an attractive option for applicants, and their standards are high.
The question of how Trendhim separates themselves from the pack to attract qualified recruits is answered quite simply: “by being the best place to work.”
